Hot Spring, Náttúrulaug
Gvendarlaug is a 25 meter 30°C warm geothermal swimming pool at Hotel Laugarhóll in Bjarnarfjörður. At Gvendarlaug there is also a natural 40°C hot spring and a cooler wading pool for children to play in. Come and bathe in naturally heated water that has been purified by Mother Earth for 25 million years. It can also be an exceptionally adventurous and wonderful retreat on a cold winter’s night watching the stars and the Northern Lights.
Cleaning takes place on Tuesdays, but the swimming pool reopens in the evening and stays open between18:00-22:00.
Guests are allowed to enter the pool while it is being refilled, which can be super fun, but we ask our guests to take special precaution as it is shallow and can be slippery.
The swimming pool has a remarkable history and was built in the fifth decade of the last century with a joint effort from farmers from the municipality.
Into the pool flows hot spring water and there is a constant flow through the pool. Therefore, very little cleaning agents are added to the water.
